You can change footer background, copyright text etc.
Footer main section (Excluding 'Copyright Section') is coming through widgets and you can setup widgets from 'Appearance > Widgets'. Out of all the sidebars, "Footer | #1", "Footer | #2", "Footer | #3", "Footer | #4" are used for the Footer.
You can use any widget from the ‘Available Widgets’ section and drag those widgets to “Footer | #1” to “Footer | #4” or click on the widgets from the ‘Available Widgets’ section and then select the desired location.
If you want to change the footer section from four columns to three columns, use three sidebars from "Footer | #1" to "Footer | #4"; similarly if you want two columns, use two sidebars from "Footer | #1" to "Footer | #4" and if you want 1 column, use one sidebar from "Footer | #1" to "Footer | #4".
So, each sidebar from "Footer | #1" to "Footer | #4" represents a column.
